AI, Artificial Intelligence, robots and automation are the reason for past and future job loss. Government response and planning for this is inadequate. Trade policy with Mexico and China may have a bigger role in US job loss IMO.
Yang believes widespread discontent and insecurity is due to stress from providing basic needs. And financial shortfalls are the cause of the election result in 2016. Yang does not believe there is an us versus them problem because them is us. Human value tied to dollars in the current system is wrong at it’s core and is the cause of many of our current problems. UBI would remove widespread insecurity and improve happiness.
UBI is basically a reverse of the tax policies of the last four decades. Citizens are not the enemy, corporations need oversight and limits, governments role is to protect people, all people. Government by the few is always wrong. Unfortunately that is the system we have now. We can remedy this or it will self correct in an uncontrolled and potentially devastating way.
