If the rate of infection is uncontrolled, if we do nothing and behave normally the horror will visit us. The horror is we must choose to save someone and at the same time let others die. The life saving supplies, facilities and personnel will have to be rationed out.

Outbreaks like this will last for months. Making life and death choices and seeing deaths up close is not something we want to deal with. Triage means you try to save lives very quickly by prioritizing multiple victims. If you can save one but it will take time and supplies you don’t have. You let them die.

We don’t see it. But it happens. It could be worse if we don’t change our behaviors.

Corona virus infections and the response is like war. In Italy 50-70 patients a day arrive at a hospital for treatment of severe respiratory distress. It’s horrible and horrific to see health care providers getting sick and quarantined at the time they are needed most.

Is it going to happen here?

A new term has entered the lexicon. It means to keep your distance, keep the physical space between people at least a few feet. Six feet is a two arms length. You should not be able to touch finger tips if two adjacent people reached out to each other.

The rapid rise in awareness and behavior modification is truly amazing to behold.

Global Corona Virus pandemic impact is widespread. So far the impact on me is small and in the category of ‘first world’. I am grateful for my health and the country I live in. I can run. Maybe not when and where I planned.

Boston and Canada was a big trip. Flights and hotels stays will be changed. First world problem. I am so embarrassed and ashamed to report my ‘problems’. As people die and deal with real problems. Health uncertainty. Financial uncertainty. Childcare issues. Loss of jobs and income threats are real problems.

Like to think the best of people will arise. But know that the worst will as well.

Corona virus pandemic has been made it’s way into every state of the union. Previously, it was in China only. People in this country did not react. Total different story now. Panic and fear.

Under duress and in dire situations we see the true nature of people. Our best and our worst instincts will kick in. We will see people react in ways that will be selfish. People will be embarrassed and ashamed when this is all over.

The 1918 influenza pandemic killed over 30 million worldwide. It could happen again. People have not learned and we have not prepared. But we can see now how scary and nasty it can be if we pay attention. If we look at facts. If we see what works and what doesn’t.

Avoiding contact and proximity with people who have the virus or carry the virus is recommended. Without testing and active detection efforts. The spread will continue and it will be big trouble.

Responses can vary from panic to total dismissal. Just like health outcomes can vary from mild symptoms to death. Totally ignoring and downplaying a pandemic is plain stupid. Pure and simple.

Education, behavior modification and serious detection efforts are needed. Once people are infected and detected they need quarantine and medical help in severe cases.

Seems simple if you are not an idiot. But we are being led by idiots. So people will be sickened and die because of incompetent leadership. So sad.

Trump, Kushner, Miller and Pence will go down in history as being the most incompetent team ever.
