When we make a choice to spend our time on something or somewhere, we are making a choice to not spend time on something else or somewhere else. This is called the opportunity cost. FOMO, the fear of missing out, is related to this very thing.
So the cost of our choices may be a little higher than we might think when we factor in the opportunities we are passing up.
The things we are missing should be known, but we should not be overly concerned as in FOMO.It helps to consider opportunity cost because it:
- reaffirms our choices
- helps us finish and move on
- become less obsessive about our choices
- allows one to visualize the next or alternate paths
