Five regions on the planet where people commonly live to 100 years old are called Blue Zones What do they have in common and what are the secrets to longevity?

  • move their bodies a lot
  • have social circles that reinforce healthy behavior
  • take time to de-stress
  • part of communities
  • committed to their families
  • have a sense of purpose
  • less food
  • less meat
  • eat fish or seaweed
  • pastoral, shepherding lifestyle
  • gardening
  • moderate wine consumption
  • lack modern food like sugar, flour and dairy

They lack the modern afflictions and early death.

  • Heart disease
  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Alzheimer’s

The people in blue zones did not choose their lifestyle, location or diet. They did not make it a life goal to live a long time. But if we are fortunate enough to know how they do it and we can choose how to live. I choose not to to be obese, have heart disease, diabetes or cancer.
